The ESONA system is a comprehensive solution, thanks to which you can already introduce bulk collection in your town or village. It will help you reducethe volume of mixed municipal waste by up to a third.

The introduction of bulk collection will help you fulfill the intention of the Government of the Slovak Republic for environmental protection defined in the currently approved Memorandum for the period 2020 – 2024, which reads:

„The Government of the Slovak Republic will support the introduction of the obligation to collect waste in bulk, possibly in combination with a flat fee. Progressive increase of the legal fee for waste landfilling to an extent that will clearly motivate all waste producers to thoroughly sort it. The Government of the Slovak Republic will support composting and bio-waste collection, especially in urban agglomerations“.

According to a study published by the Institute of Environmental Policy (IEP) at the Ministry of the Environment of the Slovak Republic, bulk collection in Slovakia significantly reduces the production of mixed municipal waste and increases the sorting rate. By introducing it, towns and villages are able to save considerable sums on increasing landfill fees.

A detailed analysis of municipal waste production data shows that the introduction of bulk collection in combination with waste collection monitoring (e.g. through tokens, barcodes and QR codes, or RFID chips) reduces the amount of mixed waste in municipalities by almost 31%. The sorting of plastics is on average 15% higher for the type of fees dependent on waste collection, and the sorting of glass is higher by 9%.
